NVIDIA is reportedly preparing to expand its GeForce RTX 50 series with SUPER variants, including the RTX 5080 SUPER with 24GB of GDDR7 memory and the RTX 5070 SUPER with an 18GB configuration, according to leaks shared on X and VideoCardz.
The RTX 5080 SUPER is said to utilize the GB203 GPU with a 256-bit memory bus, leveraging 3GB GDDR7 modules to achieve a 24GB capacity, matching the RTX 5090 Laptop GPU’s configuration. This upgrade from the standard RTX 5080’s 16GB aims to address gamer concerns about VRAM limitations for 4K gaming and content creation.
Meanwhile, the RTX 5070 SUPER is rumored to feature a GB205 GPU with a 192-bit bus, using six 3GB modules for an 18GB total, a significant jump from the RTX 5070’s 12GB. These specs suggest NVIDIA is responding to demand for higher VRAM in mid-to-high-end GPUs.
The rumors stem from persistent speculation, amplified by MSI’s repeated listing of an RTX 5080 with 24GB memory in promotional materials, hinting at NVIDIA’s potential plans for a mid-cycle refresh. However, no official release date has been confirmed, with estimates pointing to a possible reveal later in 2025.
While the increased VRAM is exciting, some X users express skepticism, citing NVIDIA’s history of high pricing for SUPER models, with estimates suggesting the RTX 5080 SUPER could cost around $1,200-$1,500. Others hope for performance boosts, like 32Gbps memory speeds, to justify the price.
