Housemarque Announces Saros, A New Sci-Fi Action Game Coming in 2026

Housemarque

Housemarque has officially unveiled Saros, a new third-person action game set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro in 2026. Following the success of Returnal, the studio aims to evolve its signature gameplay while introducing a new IP with deep storytelling and a fresh sci-fi setting.

A New Mystery on Carcosa

Saros takes players to the haunting world of Carcosa, a lost off-world colony trapped under an ominous eclipse. Players will step into the role of Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer on a relentless quest to find someone important. The game will explore themes of sacrifice and the cost of building a new future.

Arjun is played by Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher), bringing a layer of depth and emotion to the story. Housemarque has promised more details on the supporting cast and narrative elements in the coming months.

Evolution of Housemarque’s Action Gameplay

One of the biggest gameplay innovations in Saros is its permanent progression system. While every death will still reshape the world—similar to Returnal—players will now be able to permanently upgrade weapons and suit abilities, allowing them to grow stronger with each attempt. This new approach aims to create meaningful progression while maintaining the studio’s signature fast-paced combat.

First Gameplay Reveal Coming Soon

Housemarque has promised to share more details on gameplay, art, music, and technology later this year, including an extended gameplay showcase. The team has also teased how Saros will push the PlayStation 5 hardware to deliver an immersive experience.

With Saros, Housemarque continues to refine its gameplay-first philosophy, bringing a new world, compelling story, and deep action mechanics to players in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates.
