Street Fighter 6 “Alex Update” Patch Notes Goes Live With New Moves, Balance Changes and Outfits

Street Fighter 6

Capcom has released a new update for Street Fighter 6, bringing back fan-favourite grappler Alex along with gameplay tweaks, balance changes, and fresh cosmetic content.

The update focuses on expanding the roster while refining combat mechanics, offering something for both casual players and competitive fans.

Alex Returns With a Reworked Fighting Style

The biggest highlight of the update is the return of Alex, originally introduced as the protagonist of Street Fighter III: New Generation.

Known as “The Man with No Allies,” Alex comes back with a more aggressive and polished moveset. His gameplay has been redesigned to feel faster and more fluid, especially during combos and transitions.

A key addition is the new Prowler Stance, which introduces a unique risk-reward mechanic. While it lowers defensive options, it unlocks multiple offensive mix-ups and grappling opportunities.

Players can unlock Alex using Fighter Coins, while those who own the Year 3 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass will get immediate access.

New Moves and Combat Enhancements

Alex’s updated toolkit focuses heavily on close-range pressure and grappling dominance. His new and improved moves include:

  • Flash Axe – A fast combo finisher that transitions into stance-based attacks
  • Flash Chop – A heavy strike designed to open opponents for grabs
  • Aerial Knee Smash – A powerful anti-air move
  • Power Bomb – His iconic command grab, now with multiple variations

The standout feature is the Prowler Stance, which allows players to access up to 11 different mix-up options. From this stance, Alex can chain into powerful grapples such as Flying Suplex and Spiral DDT, making him a dangerous threat at close range.

Super Arts and Special Moves

Alex’s Super Arts focus on high damage and cinematic impact:

  • Raging Spear (Level 1) – A forward tackle with invincibility at startup
  • Sledgecross Hammer (Level 2) – A strong lariat with wall-splat potential
  • Omega Wing Buster (Level 2 Variant) – A follow-up tied to OD attacks

The Final Prison (Level 3) – A cinematic finisher with multiple outcomes depending on the situation

Interestingly, professional wrestler Kenny Omega contributed motion capture for one of Alex’s moves, adding authenticity to his wrestling-based combat style.

More Than Just a Character Update

The Alex Update also introduces several additional changes and improvements across the game:

  • Balance adjustments affecting multiple characters
  • New Outfit 4 skins for Dee Jay and Elena
  • Combo trials and guides to help players learn Alex’s mechanics
  • These updates aim to improve overall gameplay balance while giving players new ways to explore the roster.
  • A Continued Push for Competitive and Casual Players
