AMD Warns GPU, CPU, & Console Chip Shortages Will Continue Until Mid-2021

AMD Warns GPU,CPU, & Console Chip Shortages

Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD, has given very bad news for users after revealing the financial results of the company, and it is that she has revealed that the shortage of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S consoles, and components for PC, like its AMD Ryzen processors and AMD Radeon GPUs, it will last, at least, until the second half of 2021.

The CEO of AMD has also indicated that the consoles will be the most affected, something curious when they are actually the ones that are taking almost all of AMD’s silicon production, which makes it clear that the demand for consoles is very high, above PC components.

Although the company announced a large increase in revenue, the company’s shares have been devalued as it became known that these stock problems will last much longer than expected, as the problem will not be resolved until sometime in the second half of the year.

Since at one point the company indicated that during Q1 the stock problems were going to be minimized, and now all these will also persist during Q2. This year is being a disaster for all those people who want to buy a new PC or simply renew it, and it is that all the components are either rising in price, or have serious stock problems such as CPUs and GPUs.

Although it was expected that many PC users would migrate to new generation consoles such as the Xbox Series X, which would be its counterpart because it is the most powerful console, and the one that offers games at a very competitive price (Xbox Game Pass), well this mass migration has not been possible either because it is also difficult to get a console.

At least we already know that with AMD the shortage will continue during the second half of 2021, it remains to be seen if Samsung will be able to improve Nvidia’s production to allow it to nurture the graphics card market and reduce the market share of its rival.
