MediaTek is gearing up to launch its new Dimensity 9500 chip, and it’s set to be a big deal for smartphones in 2025. The Travis core, ARM’s newest super core called Cortex-X930, is the star of the show, debuting in September 2025. It boosts Instructions Per Cycle, meaning it handles more tasks per tick of the clock, so apps open quickly and games run smoothly. This also lets the chip work efficiently at lower speeds, saving battery life for all-day use. Plus, it supports Scalable Matrix Extension, which makes tricky tasks like AI and video editing up to 20% faster.
Graphics get a big upgrade too with the Mali-G1 Ultra, a new ARM design codenamed Drage. It delivers smooth gaming in titles like Genshin Impact or Call of Duty Mobile, aiming for 60 to 144 frames per second. The Dimensity 9500 is built on TSMC’s 3nm N3P process for top efficiency. Its setup includes one Travis core, three strong Alto cores, and four efficient Gelas cores, balancing speed and battery life. A 100 TOPS AI unit speeds up photo editing, video zooming, and other smart features. Fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage mean apps load instantly, while a large cache keeps everything snappy, even with 8K video or tons of apps open.
