The release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has set new records on Steam, with over 229,000 players at launch, marking the highest player count for any Call of Duty title on the platform in over a year. This strong turnout surpasses Modern Warfare III’s peak of 190,000 players on its launch day, indicating an enthusiastic response to Black Ops 6 and its unique offerings.
The game is set during the Gulf War in 1991 and focuses on a complex storyline involving Black Ops veteran Frank Woods, now targeted by a mysterious faction that has infiltrated the CIA.
New gameplay features, including the revamped Classic Prestige system, expanded movement options like “Omnimovement” for advanced mobility, and 16 new maps with the traditional three-lane layout, have been well received. Additionally, the Zombies mode returns with a round-based format, a staple that fans had been eagerly anticipating. The strong launch-day numbers and extensive content updates suggest Black Ops 6 could be one of the franchise’s more enduring entries
