AMD has officially launched the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, built with the powerful Zen 5 architecture and the latest 2nd Gen AMD 3D V-Cache technology. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor promises an 8% gaming performance boost over its predecessor and up to 20% faster speeds than Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D features 8 Zen 5 cores and 16 threads, delivering base and boost clock speeds of 4.7 GHz and 5.2 GHz, respectively. With a total cache of 104MB and a TDP of 120W, this processor supports high-performance gaming and demanding workloads. Priced at $479, it is AMD’s first fully unlocked X3D processor, designed for overclocking enthusiasts.
To maximize cooling and performance, AMD’s 2nd Gen 3D V-Cache technology strategically positions the cache memory beneath the processor, allowing the CCD to stay closer to the cooling system. This design adjustment reduces core temperatures, resulting in higher clock rates and smoother gaming experiences. Notably, it boosts minimum frame rates in games like The Last of Us: Part 1 by up to 31% over competitors.
In his announcement, Jack Huynh, AMD’s Senior VP of Computing and Graphics, emphasized the company’s commitment to pushing desktop computing boundaries, especially for gamers and creators. The launch also highlights collaborations with game developers, including partnerships with Activision on Call of Duty and Saber Interactive on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be available on November 7, 2024, offering a compelling option for gamers seeking cutting-edge technology.
