Developer Pearl Abyss has officially revealed the full performance details and system requirements for Crimson Desert across PC, consoles, and Mac ahead of the game’s launch. The open-world action-adventure title is scheduled to release on March 19 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Mac.
The announcement comes after weeks of speculation about how the visually ambitious game would perform on current-generation consoles. With the official specs now available, players have a clearer idea of what to expect from the game across different platforms.
Crimson Desert Console Performance Modes
Crimson Desert will feature three graphics modes on consoles, giving players the option to prioritize performance or visual quality.
Performance Mode focuses on smoother gameplay by prioritizing framerate over resolution.
Balanced Mode aims to strike a middle ground between visuals and performance.
Quality Mode enhances resolution and visual effects while lowering the framerate.
On both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the game will perform similarly across the three modes.
- Performance Mode: 1080p at 60fps with ray tracing set to low
- Balanced Mode: 1280p upscaled to 4K at 40fps
- Quality Mode: 1440p upscaled to 4K at 30fps with ray tracing set to high
Notably, neither the PlayStation 5 nor the Xbox Series X will run the game at native 4K resolution in any mode.

PS5 Pro Performance Improvements
The more powerful PS5 Pro will offer improved performance. In Quality Mode, the console can run Crimson Desert at native 4K resolution at 30fps with ultra ray tracing settings.
The game will also use an enhanced version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology. With this feature, the PS5 Pro can run the game at 1080p upscaled to 4K at 60fps in Performance Mode, with ray tracing set to high.
Xbox Series S Performance
Performance on the lower-powered Xbox Series S is more limited.
- Performance Mode: 720p at 40fps
- Quality Mode: 1080p at 30fps
Ray tracing will not be available on the Xbox Series S version.
Crimson Desert PC System Requirements
Pearl Abyss also revealed the official PC system requirements. The game appears to be relatively optimized, with support for older graphics cards at lower settings.
The minimum requirements include GPUs such as Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT, along with 16GB of RAM and 150GB of SSD storage.
For players who want to run the game at 4K resolution and 60fps on the Ultra preset, the recommended GPUs include the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT.
Mac and Handheld Support
Crimson Desert will also launch on Mac devices equipped with Apple M2 Pro or newer chips.
The developer additionally confirmed performance targets for handheld devices such as ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X.
On the standard Ally device, the game will run at 720p and 40fps, while the Ally X will support 60fps, 40fps, and 30fps modes depending on the selected graphics settings.
Story and Setting
Crimson Desert takes place on the fictional continent of Pywel and follows Kliff, a Greymane warrior, and his companions as they travel across a vast open world. The game blends medieval fantasy storytelling, fast-paced melee combat, and large-scale exploration.
With its detailed environments, advanced physics, and ambitious gameplay systems, Crimson Desert has quickly become one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
The game launches March 19 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Mac, and is currently available for pre-order on supported platforms.
