Hideo Kojima has revealed that he “already has ideas in mind” for a new horror game. In an interview granted to the official website of BAFTA, which awarded him a prestigious Fellowship, Kojima revealed that one day he will want to return to the genre that he has touched only marginally.
“P.T. ended as just an experiment,” explained the Japanese game designer and director, who just came out of the adventure of Death Stranding. “But I would like to make another horror game someday. Something that uses a revolutionary method to create terror, that doesn’t just make you pee your pants, but crap them,” said Kojima, actually showing that he intended to frighten us a lot. “I already have ideas in mind,” he added.
Whether Kojima will actually develop a horror adventure after Death Stranding is currently still unclear. Despite everything, he also said that a horror shocker of this kind would differ noticeably from the “PT” teaser to the “Silent Hills”.
“I’m easily frightened myself, so I have confidence that I could create something more terrifying than perhaps others could. I get frightened of things like darkness and imagine shadows of ghosts in the dark. Just like Hitchcock or Spielberg did,” says Hideo Kojima about a possible horror adventure he could work on.
Since an official announcement is still a long way off, it remains to be seen whether and when a horror project could indeed arise at Kojima Productions. Kojima Productions is currently working on Death Stranding for PC, to be released on June 2, while a new project has not yet been revealed in pre-production.
