A leak from the Ashes of the Singularity (AotS) game database revealed the performance level of the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card.

At the moment, the only official source of information about the performance of GeForce RTX 3000 graphics cards is NVIDIA itself, which has published several slides with a performance comparison in selected games, and a video from Doom Eternal that shows a large performance increase over the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti in 4K resolution.

We have to wait a while for the tests of independent testers, while the AotS database of the game (or rather the built-in benchmark) has an entry for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card.

So we can check how the new Ampere GPU works in these conditions and how falls out against the top cards from the GeForce RTX 2000 (Turing) series. The differences, in this case, are also more than noticeable.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 is one of the most efficient graphics cards based on the Ampere architecture. It uses the GA102 graphics core with 8704 CUDA cores and 10 GB of fast GDDR6X memory. According to the manufacturer, the new GPU in the most favorable scenarios is to be even twice as efficient as the GeForce RTX 2080, leaving the price at the same level of $699. Meanwhile, in the AotS benchmark, the GeForce RTX 3080 was tested in 4K resolution and with the highest graphics settings.

The new NVIDIA GPU managed to get 88.3 FPS, which is a result higher than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER by nearly 54 percent (the median of this card’s results is currently 69.7 FPS at the same settings). Compared to the top of the previous generation in the form of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the RTX 3080 score is 26.6 percent higher (the median for the RTX 2080 Ti is 69.7 FPS).

It seems that the new GeForce RTX 3080 will indeed be much more efficient than its predecessor, especially at higher resolutions.
