The Volition studio has recently reaffirmed that Saints Row 5 game is still in development. It looks like the franchise is gearing up for this year with the upcoming Saints Row 3 Remastered, the Saints Row 4 port on the Nintendo Switch and some movies in development.
Yesterday, publisher Deep Silver announced Saints Row: The Third Remastered. The revamped version of the game will be released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on May 22, next month. However, some fans would prefer a new part of the series instead of a remaster.
A user on Twitter asked that many people want to see a brand new game in the series to which the official Saints Row Twitter account stated that “a new Saints Row game is in development from at Volition. The Saints Row: The Third remaster is being done by Sperasoft.” Thus, they have reaffirmed that the game is still in development.

It is worth mentioning that in August 2019, the company THQ Nordic first mentioned Saints Row 5, adding that the project is at an advanced stage of production. In November, it was revealed that we will learn more about this title this year. So fans of the franchise can do nothing but be patient; Saints Row: The Third Remastered can be treated as a kind of starter to the main course.
This means that the announcement of Saints Row 5 is still expected in 2020, but when that happens is a big question. One of the possible places where the presentation of the game could have been shown was E3 2020 but it was canceled due to coronavirus.
