EVGA has recently released a new BIOS for its flagship model of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080: we are talking about the EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING graphics card.

In this recent hours, EVGA released its XOC 450W BIOS in a beta state for the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA, where its name already warns that once the BIOS is installed, the GPU will see how its Power Limit is set at 450W, thus offering an extra 50W.

This particular custom version offers a TDP of 380/400W, a value that we can define as good compared to most of the RTX 3080 models on the market (320/340W), but definitely inferior to one of its direct rivals, the ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 ROG STRIX OC (450W).

The new beta BIOS, released by the manufacturer on its official forum, brings the card’s TDP up to 450W, a feature that does not lead to improvements in terms of performance, but allows you to significantly shift the Power Limit to try to get better results in overclocking.

It is therefore easy to understand that this update is not aimed at “standard” users or gamers, but for more experienced overclockers looking for extreme frequencies and records. If needed, the manufacturer specifies that the new beta BIOS does not guarantee better performance and, above all, particular results in overclocking.

We remind you that the EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING is equipped with 10GB of GDDR6X memory and offers a Boost frequency on the GPU up to 1800 MHz; there is also a high-profile triple-fan dissipation system, while as regards to the power supply we find three PCI-E 8pin connectors.
