After the leaks and rumors of the past months, Warner Bros has officially announced at the DC FanDome Gotham Knights, the new chapter of the Batman series.
At the bottom, you can find the long announcement trailer, which finally reveals the launch window of the game set for 2021. In addition, you can also check out a gameplay trailer of Batgirl and others in action.
The debut trailer opens with the voiceover describing a disaster in Gotham City, with Bruce Wayne’s body apparently found in the rubble. Characters shown include Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood.
A posthumous message from Batman to his friends explains how he died, the Batcave exploded, but the Belfry is at their disposal to keep Gotham safe. The trailer features the gameplay of all the heroes in action, as well as a final sneak peek that the Court of Owls will play as a major role in the game. Another gameplay video is always visible at the bottom starring Batgirl.
Enemies also have damage levels and numbers that appear when attacked. WB Games Montreal also spoke of an “alive” Gotham City that will offer new challenges over time, indicating extensive post-launch support. However, the Games-as-a-service definition has not been openly confirmed.
Gotham Knights will release in the next year 2021, however, the platforms on which the title will release is still not yet known. Among the sequences shown in the gameplay video, there is also a very short part of a boss fight against Mr. Freeze that is published below.
