Dovetail Games, the team behind popular train driving titles, has revealed Metro Rivals: New York. This new adventure game will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and Windows PC through Steam and Epic Games Store in early 2026.
Set in a near-future version of New York City, the game turns the city’s subway lines into battlegrounds. Players take control of subway trains in a divided world where 10 neighborhoods fight for power. It mixes smart planning, quick driving, and exciting stories. You will need to think ahead, upgrade your train, and race at high speeds to outsmart rivals.
The game offers different ways to play. In the single-player mode, follow a gripping story where you push your train to the edge in tough races and rival fights. For multiplayer fun, challenge up to three friends in direct races, or just explore the city freely without any goals. It’s like a mix of fast taxi rides and high-speed chases, but with trains on subway tracks.
Dovetail Games calls it a “simcade” title, blending real train details with arcade-style action. Built on a new engine, it includes lifelike city views and changing music that fits the mood. Rob O’Farrell, co-CEO of the company, said: “This game brings thrill, speed, and excitement to the train world, with our first multiplayer races ever.”
The announcement came during the IGN Fall Fan Fest, complete with a trailer showing intense train battles through glowing New York streets. You can add it to your wishlist now on Steam or Epic Games Store to stay updated. If you enjoy driving games with a twist, Metro Rivals: New York looks set to deliver non-stop subway action next year.
