Yamaha has introduced two new high-end headphones, the YH-4000 and YH-C3000, designed for music lovers who want top-quality sound and comfort. These hand-assembled headphones, made in Japan at a factory that also builds Yamaha’s grand pianos, were announced just before CanJam SoCal 2025, happening September 13–14 in Irvine, California.
The YH-4000 is an open-back headphone, meaning it lets sound flow freely for a natural, clear listening experience. It uses Yamaha’s special Orthodynamic drivers, based on the technology from their flagship YH-5000SE model but tuned for a more lively and detailed sound.
Weighing only 320 grams (11.3 ounces), it has lightweight magnesium frames, a stepless headband for a perfect fit, and hybrid leather-suede earpads for comfort during long sessions. It comes with a silver-coated cable and a carrying case, priced at $2,499.95.
The YH-C3000 is a closed-back headphone, which blocks outside noise for a focused sound. It features new Armodynamic drivers, developed over 10 years, using a mix of paper, resin, and Zylon materials with a soft foam core for smooth, natural audio. It has real wood earcups, adding a stylish look, and is also lightweight and comfortable. The YH-C3000 is expected to cost around $1,699, though global prices are not yet confirmed.
Both headphones follow Yamaha’s “True Sound” philosophy, aiming to deliver music as the artist intended, with clear details and emotional depth. They will be showcased at CanJam SoCal 2025, where visitors can try them out.
Alex Sadeghian, Yamaha’s director of consumer audio, said, “The YH-4000 offers a fresh take on our Orthodynamic sound at a lower price, while the YH-C3000 transforms closed-back headphones with its new drivers and wood design. They sound amazing and feel great to wear.”
These headphones are aimed at audiophiles who value high-quality sound and craftsmanship. Yamaha’s move expands its premium headphone lineup, building on the success of the YH-5000SE. They will be available for purchase starting October 2025 at select retailers.
