The PlayStation 5 version of Final Fantasy XVI development is nearing its final stretch, with the Japanese company collaborating with Uniqlo on a 35th anniversary clothing line. In addition, Naoki Yoshida, the game’s producer, said that the game is “in the final stretch.” While no specific details have been released, it’s possible that we can expect more details to emerge during the spring.
The development of Final Fantasy XVI has been in its final stretch for some time. It was originally scheduled for release mid-2020, but the team waited to reveal more details until it had a more complete game to show.
Yoshi has spoken of the need to tread carefully when showing too much and too little before releasing the game. Thankfully, the wait is almost over, and the game is about a year away from being revealed.
Thankfully, there are a few good signs for the game’s success. Square Enix has proven itself to be a master at creating Final Fantasy games, and the failure of two of the last three would have been a terrible stain on the company’s most valuable IP.
The studio’s recent history of bringing games back from the brink of disaster is proof enough of their ability to keep a major franchise going.
