Lenovo Legion Go 2 Announced with Powerful Processor and Bigger Battery

Lenovo’s Legion Go 2

Lenovo has launched its new gaming handheld, the Legion Go 2, at IFA 2025 in Berlin. This updated version of the original Legion Go comes with a stronger processor, a larger battery, and a sharper display, making it a great choice for gamers on the go.

The Legion Go 2 can use either the AMD Ryzen Z2 or the more powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, paired with an AMD Radeon 890M graphics chip. It supports up to 32GB of fast memory and comes with up to 2TB of storage, plus an extra slot for a microSD card to add even more space. This means you can store lots of games and play them smoothly.

The handheld features an 8.8-inch OLED screen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a refresh rate that ranges from 30 to 144Hz, providing smooth visuals. The screen is bright, reaching 500 nits, and also supports vivid colours with HDR TrueBlack 1000 certification. Compared to the original Legion Go, the new model has a bigger 74Wh battery, up from 49.2Wh, which means longer gaming sessions without needing a recharge.

Lenovo improved the detachable controllers, called TrueStrike, based on player feedback. They now have a better shape for comfort, a round D-pad, and hall effect joysticks to prevent drifting issues. You can still use the right controller as a mouse for aiming in shooting games, a feature not found on other handhelds like the Steam Deck or ROG Ally X.

The Legion Go 2 also includes a fingerprint scanner on the power button, two USB4 ports for fast charging and connecting devices, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. It has dual 2W speakers for better sound and weighs about 1079g with controllers attached.

The starting price is $1,049 in the US, with a base model at $1,099.99 for the Ryzen Z2 and 16GB of memory. The top model, with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme and 32GB of memory, costs $1,349.99. In some markets, it starts at €999. The handheld will be available for purchase in October 2025.

Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 is set to compete with other gaming handhelds like the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally X, offering powerful specs and a sleek design for gamers who want a portable yet strong gaming device.
