Through the NeoGAF forums, via the informant BGs, who is recognized on the site for being an industry professional, shared that the current models of PlayStation 5 development kits have better performance compared to Xbox Series X.
“At the beginning of the year PS5 was still the one that offered the best performance,” said the informant, who did not add much to what other developers have said about it. However, he mentions that this could have changed with the new development kits. Unfortunately, he indicated that he does not have access to that information and that it will be until early summer when he has a physical encounter, so he reserved his opinions until he verifies it.
This takes by surprise, taking into account that the Microsoft console is expected to have the most power. In fact, a recent report mentioned that it will have more teraflops than PS5. In this sense, BGs also mentions that in the end, both consoles will have similar characteristics and that in the generation a great graphics difference will not be identified, but that the real differentiators will be the games. “One will load the screen in 10 seconds and the other in 7 seconds. One will have a better sound than the other. One will run the game at 60fps and the other … too. What will really matter will be the quality that development studies can achieve with their time and budget,” explained the informant.
