As you all know, recently major spoilers for The Last of Us 2 began circulating online. After reading and seeing them, some users became discouraged from buying it (or even from playing the game), as they felt that their experience had been ruined, as important details of the story were revealed. Troy Baker, the voice actor who plays Joel, thinks something different about the spoilers and assured that the leaks do not tarnish what the video game has to offer.
The Article is spoiler-free.
In a recent Q&A session on Instagram (via Reddit), the renowned voice actor responded to the situation after his followers asked him for his opinion. According to Baker, the game cannot be ruined by “a couple of screenshots,” but the gaming experience, which Naughty Dog has worked on for a long time, is more than that.
“Oh dude, it doesn’t matter. Look, if you think that game can be ruined by a couple of screenshots… really? A studio with thirty plus years of development, with so many awards under their belt they can’t even put them all in one trophy closet. This is the biggest, most ambitious game they’ve ever done. You really think that that experience can be undone by a couple of screenshots? Think six years of development can be undone by that? It’s a game, it’s a game. You have to experience it. That’s all I’m gonna say,” said Baker.
Although the leaks of the game were not only a couple of images, Troy Baker’s statement is clear: it is not possible to judge a game only by spoilers and the way in which the information was leaked, but an essential part to enjoy the experience is to play it and see how the story unfolds.
Naughty Dog has already entered the final stretch towards the launch of the title. The developer has already finished working on the title and it is expected that there will be many surprises before reaching the premiere.
The Last of Us 2 will release on June 19 on PlayStation 4. Do you agree with Troy Baker’s statements? Are you ready to play The Last of Us 2? Tell us in the comments below.
