Rockstar Games has announced a major free upgrade for Grand Theft Auto V on PC, launching March 4. This update brings a wealth of enhancements previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, including upgraded visuals, faster load times, new vehicles, and expanded content in GTA Online.
Next-Gen Features Now on PC
Players who own GTA V on PC will be able to upgrade at no additional cost, with Story Mode and GTA Online progress carrying over. The update introduces:
- Hao’s Special Works (HSW): Customize select vehicles with elite performance upgrades, compete in HSW races and time trials, and access exclusive Premium Test Rides.
- Wildlife Encounters: Discover and photograph animals across Southern San Andreas for in-game rewards.
- GTA+ Membership: For the first time, PC players can subscribe to GTA Online’s premium membership, unlocking exclusive bonuses and monthly in-game cash.
- Career Progress Tracking: A new feature that monitors achievements and progress across all GTA Online updates.
- Revamped Landing Page: A refreshed interface streamlining access to both Story Mode and GTA Online.
New players will also benefit from an improved introduction, receiving GTA$4,000,000 to kickstart their criminal careers as an Executive, Gunrunner, Nightclub Owner, or Biker.

For the first time, GTA+ will be available to PC players, offering:
- Monthly GTA$500,000 deposits
- Exclusive in-game discounts and property benefits
- Bonus Shark Cards with an extra 15% GTA$ boost
Continued Support for Legacy PC Version
Rockstar has confirmed that the original version of GTA V for PC will remain supported for those whose hardware does not meet the new upgrade’s requirements. However, this version will be a separate instance, meaning players on the older version will not be able to join sessions with those using the upgraded release.
