PlatinumGames Wants to Finish the Triology With Viewtiful Joe 3

PlatinumGames Viewtiful Joe 3

The creative director of PlatinumGames, Hideki Kamiya, wants to work on Viewtiful Joe 3, but it all depends on Capcom, the owner of the IP.

The company that perhaps started stronger this year is PlatinumGames if we take into account that in a little less than 1 month it announced 3 projects on which it is already working. But this will not end there, there is still one last announcement to be made, which promises to be the most impressive of Platinum 4.

The acclaimed studio was present at PAX East 2020 and they had the opportunity to, in addition, to show The Wonderful 101 Remastered gameplay, talk with media. In an interview with Nintendo Enthusiast, Atsushi Inaba, the head of the studio said that the 4th title of Platinum 4 might be the last announcement, but not the least important; since he hopes to “impress everyone”.

In addition, Hideki Kamiya, creative director of PlatinumGames said that a follow up to Viewtiful Joe 2 could still happen in the future in the interview. In that sense, Kamiya stated the following: “I have no control over that! (laughs) That’s Capcom’s choice! However, we’ve seen some PlatinumGames games come out on the Nintendo Switch, like Okami and Bayonetta and Devil May Cry. There are a few things that have not actually come to the Switch, though, like Resident Evil 2 and Viewtiful Joe. Personally, I really hope that it comes back. I don’t want it to be lost in the sands of time, so to speak. I’m requesting it! I would love it if that would happen.

Also, there’s been a Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2, but there has been no 3. So, for me personally, I would also love to finish that trilogy with a Viewtiful Joe 3.”

In case you don’t know, at the beginning of the year, the Japanese studio revealed that it would make 4 announcements related to its projects. True to its words, the details of The Wonderful 101 Remastered, Project GG and the new studio in Tokyo have already been released.

There is much speculation about the following announcement. Rumors point to some revelation around Bayonetta, specifically something related to a Bayonetta 3 development update. However, judging by Inaba’s words, it seems that it will be something different, because it would cause the players a lot of astonishment, and Bayonetta would impress, but perhaps not so much, taking into account that it was already revealed.

What do you think of Kamiya’s statements? What are your theories about the latest Platinum 4 announcement? Tell us in the comments below.
